The eye's nerve is slowly damaged
आँख की नस धीरे-धीरे ख़राब होती है
The optic nerve carries what you see to the brain. In glaucoma, usually because pressure inside the eye is too high for that eye, the nerve is damaged a little at a time. Side vision goes first, so most people don't notice until a lot is lost.

ज़्यादातर कोई लक्षण नहीं होता
The common type of glaucoma gives no pain, no redness and no blur until late. A check is the only way to know. Some people notice bumping into things on one side, or needing more light to read.
sudden severe eye pain, a red eye, blurred vision with coloured rings around lights, headache and vomiting. This can be an acute glaucoma attack.

Eye pressure
A numbing drop, then a gentle reading. Takes a minute. Done at every visit.

OCT scan of the nerve
You look at a light on our Huvitz OCT while it scans the nerve in layers. Nothing touches the eye.

Visual field test
On the AVA field analyser you press a button each time you see a small light. About 10 minutes per eye.
Lowering pressure, three ways
इलाज: ड्रॉप, लेज़र, सर्जरी
Eye drops
One to three drops a day, every day. They work only while you keep using them.
Laser
Helps fluid drain, or prevents attacks in narrow-angle eyes. Done sitting at a machine.
Surgery
A new drainage path when drops and laser aren't enough.
Which treatment is right depends on the type of glaucoma and how far it has gone. Dr. Swati explains the options at your visit.
A simple routine keeps it steady
रोज़ की आदत से रोशनी बची रहती है

Your follow-ups

- Visual fieldabout once a year
Your doctor sets the exact gap. We remind you on WhatsApp before each visit, and your reports stay in My records.
Glaucoma in children
बच्चों में काला मोतिया
It is rare, and can be present from birth. See us soon if a baby or child has:
- Eyes that look unusually large
- A cloudy or hazy-looking eye
- Constant watering
- Strong dislike of light
Children's glaucoma usually needs treatment early, so please don't wait.
Questions patients ask us
Can glaucoma be cured?
No, but it can almost always be controlled. The aim of treatment is to keep the sight you have for the rest of your life.
Will I need drops for life?
Often, yes. Some people move to laser or surgery so they need fewer drops. Never stop drops on your own.
Is the eye pressure test painful?
No. A numbing drop is used first. You may feel a light touch, nothing more.
Are cataract and glaucoma the same?
No. In cataract (safed motiya) the lens turns cloudy, and an operation brings sight back. In glaucoma (kala motiya) the nerve is damaged, and lost sight does not come back.
I live far away. How often must I come?
Usually every 3 to 6 months once you are stable. We plan visits so the tests you need happen on one trip.
